Guest Lecture Series

On 11th March 2025, faculty member Ms. Aiza Azam organized an interactive session for her 7th semester advisory group. The session provided information on the Fulbright Scholarship, one of the most prestigious academic exchange programs in the world. The speaker, Mr. Rahat Karim, Senior Program Officer at the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), shared detailed insights about the scholarship application process, eligibility criteria, and the various opportunities it offers.


As part of the IR Career Compass: Guiding Young Scholars talk series, Faculty Member Dr. Zahid Mehmood Zahid organized an interactive session on 28th February 2025 for his 8th-semester Advisory Group. The guest speaker for the event was Ismail Khan, the Principal Political Advisor for Foreign Policy at the British High Commission. Ismail Khan shared his extensive journey and experiences across various international institutions. He provided practical guidance on how students can navigate their career pursuits, emphasizing skill development, networking, and staying updated with global trends.


On 4th March 2025, faculty member Ms. Aiza Azam organized a guest lecture for the BS-5 course "Statecraft and Diplomacy." Ambassador Zamir Akram, the guest speaker, shared his firsthand perspective on the conduct of diplomacy, how a skilled diplomat must operate in the international environment.


Faculty member, Ms. Aiza Azam and Faraz Haider organized a joint guest lecture for BS-5 and BS-7 students enrolled in courses such as Statecraft and Diplomacy, Strategic Communication, Regional Security Dynamics, and Strategic Stability. The guest speaker was Dr. Adil Sultan, Dean Faculty Aerospace and Strategic Studies. His talk focused on crisis communication, using South Asia as a case study to highlight effective strategies for managing communication during regional conflicts.


On 21st February 2025, faculty Member Dr. Zahid Mehmood Zahid organized an interactive session for his 8th-semester Advisory Group focused on career counseling. The guest speaker for the session was Muneeb Salman, a Research Associate at the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad. Muneeb shared his personal journey, offering valuable insights and practical guidance to the students on how to navigate their career paths in the field of research and international relations.


Faculty member Ms. Aiza Azam organized a guest lecture for the students of 6th semester enrolled in Emerging Technologies and Global Security course. The guest speaker for the session was Air Commodore (Retd) Fawad Zahir, Director ORIC at Air University, Islamabad. The lecture focused on the topic, “Emerging Technologies in the Future of Warfare.”


A guest lecture was organized by Ms. Aiza Azam, a faculty member, for the 6th-semester students enrolled in the Emerging Technologies and Global Security course. The speaker for the session was Air Commodore Raza Haider (Retd.), Director at the Center for Aerospace and Security Studies, Islamabad. The topic of the lecture was "The Impact of Emerging Technologies on International Relations."


Faraz Haider, faculty member, organized a guest lecture for the students of BS International Relations. The guest speaker, Hassaan Sipra, Director of Global Engagement at The Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering. He spoke on the topic, “Solar Radiation Management and UNEA Procedure.”


Faculty Member Ms. Aiza Azam organized a guest lecture for the BS International Relations 7th semester. The speaker was Dr. Mary Hunter, visiting fellow at Centre for Strategic and Contemporary Research (CSCR). She spoke on the “Role of Religion in India-Pakistan Politics.”


A guest lecture was organized by faculty member Dr. Afsah Qazi for the students of BS International Relations 4th semester. The speaker was Mr. Muhammad Laraib, Inland Revenue Service of Pakistan, spoke on the Political Economy of Tax in Pakistan.


Ms. Aiza Azam, faculty member, organized a guest lecture for the students of BS International Relations. The distinguished guest speaker, Ambassador (R) Afrasiab Mehdi Hashmi, former Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh, spoke on the relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.


A guest lecture was organized by the faculty member Faraz Haider for the students of BS International Relations 6th Semester enrolled in the course of Politics of Energy and Resources. The speaker was Ms. Ameera Adil, Founder and Executive Director at Strategic Foresight for Pakistan. She delivered a lecture on Emerging Global Renewable Energy Market.


A guest lecture was organized by Dean FASS Dr. Adil Sultan for the students rolled in MS International Relations and Security Studies and PhD in Strategic Studies programs. The speaker was Brigadier (Retired) Feroz Khan, a former Brigadier in the Pakistan Army. He spoke on the key aspects of the deterrence in 21st Century.


A guest lecture was organized by Dean FASS Dr. Adil Sultan for the students rolled in MS International Relations and Security Studies and PhD in Strategic Studies programs. The speaker was Brigadier (Retired) Feroz Khan, a former Brigadier in the Pakistan Army. He spoke on the key aspects of the deterrence in 21st Century.


The Department of Strategic Studies hosted the delegates from the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research, Mr. Pavel Mraz and Ms. Amna Rafiq. The session focused on Cyber Security Capacity Building, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts in enhancing global cyber resilience.


A guest lecture was organized by faculty member Mr. Faraz Haider in the course of World Space Week. The speaker was Dr. Salman Atif, Associate Professor, Institute of Geographical Information Systems, spoke on space technology and climate change.


A guest lecture was organized by faculty member Ms. Ayesha Ajmal Malik for 7th semester students. The speaker was Mr. Hamdan Ahmad, social development professional. He spoke on the topic Labor and Trade Ecosystem of Pakistan.


The Faculty of Aerospace and Strategic Studies organized a talk on Democracy titled, “Democratic Experience of Pakistan: Derailments and Paths for Deepening” on 18th December 2023. The talk was attended by BS-IR students and faculty members.
