Message of Chair Department

Welcome to the Department of Creative Technologies at Air University, Islamabad!

On behalf of the Creative Technologies department, Air University, Islamabad, I welcome you all. I feel honored to be leading this department at such a technologically advanced time when the application of the latest technology is crucial in surviving and competing in the knowledge economy. The department aims at producing quality graduates in emergings areas of computing fields who can meet the challenges of the time and transform their knowledge into real value for the benefit of society. The focus is on extensive training in solving real-life problems through the knowledge shared in the classrooms and experiments performed in the laboratories.

The department is currently running four (04) undergraduate programs, including Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (BSSE), Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (BSAI), and Bachelor of Science in Gaming and Multimedia (BSGM). The program curriculums are designed in consultation with the industry experts, adhering to the HEC and NCEAC guidelines, so that students can learn and understand the latest market trends and get themselves ready for the market. Through these undergraduate programs, we aim to create a local pool of talented and skilled students who can contribute to revolutionalize the Pakistani industry as per the international standards. The department has also signed a few MoUs with the local industries, and many students are engaged in various industrial projects as part semester projects, course requirements, or internships. I am proud to say that we have faculty members with expertise in fundamental and advanced domains of Machine Learning/Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Gaming, and Multimedia. Most faculty members have many years of teaching and research experience in their respective areas, which is highly beneficial for the department to achieve its mission and objectives.

We believe that academic excellence is impossible without a quality research and development (R&D) environment. Thus, besides offering BS programs, the department has also initiated MS programs, including MS Artificial Intelligence, MS Data Science and MS Gaming, and Multimedia. These MS programs are designed to produce research scholars with strong theoretical, analytical, and hands-on skills essential for pursuing an advanced career in emerging technologies as professional experts or researchers. Different research groups have been created in the department, and strong research culture is in place with the cohesive efforts of the faculty members. I feel proud to have more than 50% Ph.D. faculty, who graduated from renowned national and international universities. The department collaborates with other national and international universities regarding various research projects. The department is steadily growing, adding new disciplines and specializations.

Apart from running undergraduate and graduate programs, the Creative Technologies department periodically arranges different workshops/seminars on emerging technologies so that students can upgrade their expertise with the latest industry standard. In our department, we encourage and train our students to participate in national and international-level competitions (including programming and project exhibitions). A team of faculty members is explicitly given this responsibility to motivate, train, and prepare students for high-standard competitions relevant to the computing domain and current emerging technologies. We also encourage the students to select their projects by looking into the current trends in industry and issues in society. I am delighted to announce that our department has also encouraged and guided the students in their company start-up. At present, many students are active in preparing and pitching their proposals to establish their own companies with the support of the University Incubation Center.

As a chair department, I invite you to visit our department to experience the atmosphere we have created for the students and the department itself. I also welcome any feedback that can help our department to improve. If you want to ask or say anything about the department, you can drop an email to my inbox or contact me at my office number.
