ORIC has self-adopted its mandate to enhance the environment for all research activities and scholarship schemes by:
- Developing the university’s strategic research directions and policies.
- Increasing and diversifying external research funding.
- Improving integration of research and education at all levels of the university.
- Transforming research into useful products for public benefit.
- Strengthening university-industry relationships.
- Nurturing entrepreneurship, technology-transfer and commercialization for sustainable economic development.
- Stimulating and augmenting cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary research initiatives
- Modeling incentives and awards schemes for valued research and publications.
- Drafting intellectual property policy of AU
Purpose
- Identify research opportunities for faculty members
- Facilitate faculty to apply for research grants
- Legal, administrative and financial management support of research grants
- Contribution towards economic growth through research and innovation
- Support commercialization and licensing of the university research products
- Develop public-private partnership for mutual benefit
- Liaison with national and international research institutes
- Promotion of the research culture amongst students and faculty
- Bridge the gap between Industry and academia for joint research projects
- Upscale the research publications in impact factor journals
- Liaison with national and international research funding agencies
- Patent filing , scrutiny and fulfilling other legalities in the matter
- Identifying opportunities of collaborations with national and international academia
- Creating University-Industry linkages
- Establishment of Research and Business Incubation Center
