Extra Curricular Activities

Air University has organized Air Tech to promote research in robotics, engineering, designing and evaluation of different technical and practical designs and improving reasoning and logic in fields of Mathematics and Physics and other related fields. It provided opportunities to students at Air University to interact with the other students of top Pakistani Universities, learn from their work, and absorb different unique and technical ideas.


The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics GIKI Chapter has taken this initiative to promote the culture of science and technology in the country and to inculcate the practice of thinking critically over technical problems. Students from the Biomedical Engineering department participated in AIREX GIKI'19 along with other participants from different departments of Air University. Teams from universities all over Pakistan such as NUST, UOL, and GIKI etc. participated in different domains such as ASTRO quest, XEPAC, Aero Mania and Lithe copter. Students from Air University won three competitions out of seven domains.


Air University has organized a talk by Allama Muhammad Raza Saqib Mustafai on “Work Ethics in the light of Seerat-un-Nabi (saw)”. The goal of event that was as; a strong workplace culture focuses on key values, such as integrity and openness. Successful businesses promote a strong alignment between ethical practices and overall company values. Many organizations require employees to follow a code of ethics when handling daily duties and they need people who understand it.

The Hult Prize is a business orientated international event. It challenges young people around the world to solve the planet's most pressing issues through social entrepreneurship. First, students have to participate in an interuniversity competition, the winners then are invited to intra-university competitions and the students who won among different universities in a country, participates in a global event. In 2020, students of Biomedical Engineering participated in an online competition, which was about food waste and business ideas to reduce food waste. The students won the interuniversity competition and qualified for intra-university competition.

A seminar was conducted on “Climate change and sustainable development in Pakistan” and honorable minister of climate change affairs was invited as chief guest to the event. Some other esteemed guest who were representatives of NGOs working for climate change in Pakistan were also invited and briefed the audience about their work. A panel discussion was held and some ideas of initiatives addressing the issue were presented.

In 2020, exposure tour that was organized by government funded organization, Voice of Baluchistan, to promote Baluchistan and its culture amongst Pakistani students from other provinces. The organization has multiple activities for the purpose of exposure tours under which this trip took place. In this exposure tour, four institutions were selected from Islamabad and Lahore each. From Islamabad, following four universities were shortlisted:

  • Air University
  • Bahria University
  • National University of Modern Languages (NUML)
  • COMSATS Islamabad

On 6th March, Vice Chancellor Air University invited 2020 Sir Royal Brian Kevin Burridge, Air Chief Marshal United Kingdom to deliver the lecture on “The Future of Aerospace Known Known and Known Unknowns”. Faculty members, staff and students attended the lecture. After his lecture the Royal Air Chief Marshal visited a few departments and was pleased to see the standard of laboratories and facilities available to students.

On 3rd Feb, 2020, Air University Islamabad Campus observed Kashmir Solidarity Day. Faculty members and employees participated in the event. The ceremony began with playing the national anthems of Pakistan and Kashmir. Syed Fakhar Imam Chairman National Assembly’s standing committee on Kashmir Affairs graced the occasion and shed light on the bravery displayed by Pakistani Navy and Armed Forces in the 1965 war against India. Mr. Hamid Mir, a senior journalist and columnist enlightened the impact of Indian’s barbaric actions against Kashmiri people and how we as a Pakistani everyone is standing firm with the nation of Kashmir. This was followed by the faculty’s vehement condemnation of India’s unlawful activities in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Air University held the Air Alumni Homecoming ceremony to encourage around 5,000 alumni who have graduated during the last 14 years. Vice- Chancellor in his speech termed alumni reunions a gateway to reconnect the graduates with their alma mater; to commemorate their wonderful past; to celebrate their present achievements and to strengthen professional networking for bright future.

A large number of graduates belonging to the departments of Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science and Social Sciences and deans, directors and faculty members were present on the occasion. The event was fascinating with musical performance, followed by dinner, in which participants actively gathered to recall unforgettable memories. Talking to media, alumnus expressed positive remarks about the reunion ceremony and urged the Air University management to organize such events on regular basis.

In order to revive the beautiful Urdu literary genre of poetry and to reiterate its importance for the young generation, an amazing event on Mushaira was arranged by the AU Writers’ Club. A large number of students as well as the faculty members graced the event with their soulful recitations of the beautiful words and couplets. Also, there were a dozen of poets invited who presented their poetry infront faculty and students.

Shaoor Society organized a campaign of “Safai Ko Pasand Karo”.. The move is introduced to inculcate in student’s good habits such as a sense of responsibility and care. Not only students but teachers, directors and registrar also participated in this event. Volunteers of the campaign will keep raising awareness about cleanliness during this drive. A team of volunteers will regularly visit assigned rooms during the campaign and ask people how they discard garbage. The students have been advised to make people take an oath to dispose of garbage in recyclable bags or dustbins every day.


An online seminar on the topic of “Digital Revolution in Health Care” was arranged and all the faculty, staff and students participated in the seminar. The CEO of a well-known biomedical and hospital consultation company “Deneb” was invited as the guest speaker, whose talk was focused on the future scope of engineers in the field of Health Care.

An online seminar on the topic of “Mental Health Pandemic” was arranged and all the faculty, staff and students participated in the seminar. Dr. Sadaf Ahmed who is one of the most reputable scientist in the field of Physiology and Behavioral Neuroscience was invited as a guest speaker. Her talk focused on the impact of Pandemic such as Covid19 on Mental Health of people.

This event was organized by University of Lahore, one of the biggest annual technical Olympiad organized in Pakistan. This event consists of multiple STEM based competitions build around a central theme, which is reflected by their rules and design. This event was led by students from different department including students from Biomedical Engineering dept. The central theme of the event was Business and Media. Some flagship events and the way they reflected the theme are:

  • Marketing and AD Making Competition,
  • Computer Science Competition,
  • PCB Design and Soldering Competition,
  • Project Exhibition,
  • Media and Videography,

Clean and Green Pakistan campaign was conducted under the supervision of faculty members. Many students participated in the hike at Trail 5 to collect solid waste, which is harmful for the environment. These events are planned on a regular basis to build the awareness in people who are using these hiking tracks.

Students from the Biomedical Engineering dept. are highly motivated to participate in international lectures and trainings. Recently Universitas Padjadjaran Indoesia organized special lectures on Biomedical Engineering, Internet of Things and Electrical Control Systems, and some of the students participated in those lectures to stay connected with the global environment of studies.



On New Year 2021, the students of Air University visited surrounding areas where people are living their lives below poverty level, and celebrated the New Year with them. Gifts were distributed and different activities were performed. These types of events not only make the needy people feel that they are not alone but also create a sense of responsibility to the students to do good deeds.

During the covid19 pandemic, health care providers including doctors and nurses were the front line defense and they performed tremendous duties and saved thousands of lives. To appreciate some of these health care heroes, a team of AIR University visited PIMS hospital on 25th Jan 21 and presented certificates and gifts.

These workshops are arranged in Biomedical Engineering Dept. and Air University on regular basis to keep up the students with modern trends of software’s and technology used in Biomedical Engineering, so that they can make use of these tools in order to enhance their skills. A two day workshop on Matlab and Machine Learning conducted by Engr. Nabeeha Ehsan on 3rd - 4th Dec, 2021 in Biomedical Engineering Dept. in which she covered all the basic and advanced concepts, which can be utilized in the field of Biomedical Engineering.

Career fairs are equal opportunity events for job seekers and employers. Career fair provides Air University students and participating organizations a common platform for interaction. PTCL, NayaTel, ZTE, Huawei, Zong, Kohinoor Textile Mills, Shifa Foundation, WWF, NESCOM, UBL, Master Tiles, Teach for Pakistan, Launchpad Interactive, Obortunity, Ciscom, Black Horse International, Sharif Group, ASK Development, Go Solar, Digital Processing Services, and National Tourism Pakistan were some of the prominent companies among total fifty participating organizations. Chinese organizations included China Pakistan Educational Cultural Institute (CPECI) and DWG Groups took great interest in the career fair. A large number of students studying in the final year of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Sciences, and Social Sciences participated in the event.

Airfest is a festival organized by students of Air University during their spring semester. The festival is celebrated as a pre-activity of Sports week. The festival is designed as an entrepreneurial venture in order to raise extra funds for cultural night festivities. Through Airfest, students are empowered to design their entrepreneurial ventures in their own way in order to promote innovation, creativity, management skills and confidence building. Festival is hosted by Cultural Society of Air University, under supervision of Department of Student Affairs where every department is given a stall to execute their business activities. On the basis of their performance in Airfest, departments are assigned a country, a Culture that they will represent in Cultural Night.

In the Festival of 2022, all the departments of AU participated. The students of Biomedical Engineering Dept. secured third position in the event.


On 6th October 2022, the Department of Biomedical Engineering participated in Mega Freshcon 2022 Event to join hands for fund raising of Flood Victims. The Medical Equipments Design Club MEDC of the department arranged a Hallowen themed setup to raise funds through activities of Ghost Trap. The raised amount was collected under the Flood Relief Campaign regarding monsoonal flood of Pakistan 2022.

On 6th September 2022, students of BME participated in a Basketball match held at NUST University for their Orientation Week 2022. It was an exhibition match where the students at Air University particularly from Biomedical Department, Computer Science, IR and FMC portrayed their excellent team work to create scoring opportunities on offense along with shutting down the opponent’s passing lanes defensively.

Air University held a motivational and informative seminar for the emerging and potential entrepreneurs of AU. The motive of the discussion was to inculcate entrepreneurial skills and mindset between students in order to become successful entrepreneurs. The attendees were there in AU Main Auditorium who learned the basics of:

  • Mentoring and incubation
  • Entrepreneurship events and research-based activities
  • Entrepreneurship education and training
  • Business plan formulation and assessment
