The Physics Department of the Air University, Islamabad (AU) has created an outstanding environment to pursue basic and advanced degrees in the field of Physics. We have assembled, and are continuing to assemble, a faculty of outstanding teachers and researchers in several fields of Physics. We are establishing strong research programs in the core areas of materials science, condensed matter physics and computational physics. Beside, we are also having programs in the interdisciplinary fields such as renewable energy, biological and medical physics. The Department is placed at 5th out of all Physics Departments in the Country in 2013 Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) Ranking.
The Department of Physics offers undergraduate (BS) and graduate (MS and PhD) programs, where students are opting for a wide variety of courses in basic and applied physics. Our department is also working in close collaboration with engineering departments of AU for developing their required courses. We are committed to give our students the highest quality education, with emphasis on critical thinking and analysis, conceptual understanding and problem solving related to science in general and physics in particular. The Department strives to maintain an enjoyable and highly collaborative environment for research and education so that researchers and students reach their best potential. We continue to expand and update our curriculum to include topics of current interest
